Master data exchange – user synchronization

Software interfaces for integration

Keep data up to date

Synchronize device master data

Export performance data

Logbooks, odometer readings, operating hours…

User management

Create drivers and users and log in with single sign-on

Telemat interfaces for telematics integration

When telematics systems or specifically the GPS Fleet software are to be introduced in large companies, interfaces to other company systems play a major role. High reliability and minimal risk of downtime are crucial here.

  • How can logbooks and the generated data be exported and further processed?
  • How can software users and logins be managed automatically?
  • How can drivers be automatically created and deactivated for telematics via interfaces?
  • How can vehicles and vehicle data be imported into the software?

Interfaces for the exchange of vehicle data

Many functions can be partially automated using modern JSON APIs:

  • Create vehicles and devices with master data
  • Create and manage cost centers and vehicle groups
  • Create geofence areas and construction sites in the GPS Fleet software
  • Retrieval of logbooks and/or live tracking
  • Calling up mileage and operating hours

Interfaces for personnel master data

Interfaces for personnel master data (drivers and users) are absolutely essential nowadays. Only with the right personnel data interfaces can the drivers’ data be correct and the users have secure access to the GPS Fleet software.

LDAP Azure AD and Entity ID

Azure AD (Azure Active Directory) is Microsoft’s cloud-based identity service for managing users in an organization. Using an interface connection to your Azure (or the local LDAP variant), users or drivers can be created in the GPS Fleet software and users can be accessed securely and conveniently via SAML using single sign-on (SSO) without passwords. It is also possible to use the EntityID as a unique identifier in authentication protocols such as SAML.

MS365 SAML

SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) is a modern Microsoft standard for the exchange of authentication information between e.g. LDAP or Azure AD and the GPS Fleet software. SAML makes it possible for users or drivers who are already logged into their Microsoft environment to access the GPS Fleet software without having to authenticate themselves again. This is an advantage for the user in terms of convenience (no password reset), it’s faster and it’s even more secure because IT can prevent users who have left the company from gaining access to the GPS Fleet software

Microsoft SCIM

The GPS Fleet software also accesses SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management) to synchronize user data (e.g. from Azure AD) into the GPS Fleet software. This usually involves driver data and driver emails. Using SCIM automates the process of adding, updating and deleting users so that the master data in the GPS Fleet software is always properly maintained.
