GPS.at at the Lindemann Metal Recycling Day

In January 2023, LINDEMANN Germany GmbH hosted the “Lindemann Metal Recycling Day 2023”. 200 invited international guests from the recycling industry met at the production site in Vreden, Germany. Our Managing Director Klemens Häusler was invited as a software partner and guest speaker by the customer Lindemann to give a 30-minute presentation on digitalization in the metal recycling industry

110 years of Lindemann – 100 years of metal recycling solutions

Lindemann(www.lindemann-metalrecycling.com) is a manufacturer of extremely powerful shears, shredders and metal presses for the metal recycling industry and can look back on over 110 years of company history. The first hydraulic baling press was introduced as early as 1923, leading to Lindemann’s early breakthrough and worldwide recognition in international markets. The day started with an impressive factory tour at the site of production partner Wilhelm Severt Maschinenbau GmbH in Vreden, Germany. The robot welding and manual welding of large machines “electrified” the expert visitors from the metal industry.

The Internet of Things for metal recycling

In the following series of lectures, Klemens Häusler presented the importance of digitalization for innovation in metal recycling. The new Lindemann InDex IoT platform, which can be used for new and existing Lindemann shears and shredders, was presented to over 200 visitors. IoT edge devices are used to transfer machine data and display it for customers and users in the InDex IoT platform, as a kind of digital twin to the shears and shredders. Klemens Häusler, Managing Director of GPS.at, says: “The special thing about the Lindemann InDex platform is that the know-how and expertise of Lindemann’s product experts are at the heart of its further development. The IoT service is 100% focused on the needs of the customer.” The IoT service platform is therefore being individually developed by GPS.at for the next steps in digitalization.

Focus on benefits for the user

The feedback from trade visitors to the digitalization presentation was very positive. We succeeded in building a bridge between the software world of digitalization and the users. This is not achieved with abstract, complex models or IoT visions of the future, but with the advantages and benefits that users can derive from using IoT software. Since the t-matix takeover by GPS.at, we have been consistently taking the next steps. By using state-of-the-art software designs, we can help customers achieve a breakthrough in the shortest possible time. The focus is on simple functions, modern design and optimization for mobile users on smartphones. t-matix will be further expanded as IoT software for plant and machine manufacturers and for mobile machines.

The GPS.at company

The company Software-Management GmbH(www.gps.at) was founded in 2004 as a limited company by DI(FH) Markus Häusler. Since 2007, the company has been investing in the continuous further development of its own software products and innovations in telematics. Over the years, several tracking providers (Truckloc, Citadel, Tempore, XLOC) have been acquired. This was followed in 2021 by the takeover of the insolvent t-matix GmbH with the t-matix IoT platform. Up to 15 people are currently employed at the company headquarters in Vöcklabruck and at the new location in Graz. GPS.at currently generates an annual turnover of between 2.5 and 3 million euros. Income is mainly generated from the “Software-as-a-Service” operation of the company’s own telematics products. Well-known large companies as well as many SMEs use the GPS Fleet Software from GPS.at for GPS tracking and for keeping a digital logbook.
